FOR WRITERS
New writers are always approaching me with questions and comments about any and everything concerning writing and publishing. I would love to answer each and every question personally but I don't always have the time. So here are some personal tips that will hopefully help.
- Stay true to your inner voice
- Be diligent and consistent about your writing
- Don't get discouraged by rejection letters, (read JK Rowling's biography)
- Learn how to write a great query if pitching a book to an agent
- Research which agent represents your type of work, don't just pitch to everyone at a literary agency
- Have others read your work and take constructive criticism
- Try writing in a quiet place, and outline your story before starting
- Don't expect to get rich on your first book
- Do as much marketing as you can once your book is complete
- Let a lawyer review your book contract
- Learn as much as you can about this industry
